Withdrawal request letter: free template

Updated on 22 July 2026

In brief

After payment, the creditor can withdraw the debt enforcement at the office (art. 8a para. 3 let. c DEBA/SchKG): the entry then stops being disclosed to third parties. This free template words the request correctly. Send by registered mail with proof of payment.

You paid your debt enforcement but it still shows on the extract? Ask the creditor to withdraw it with this letter: it costs them nothing and makes the entry invisible to third parties.

This template fits if:

  • the debt behind the proceeding has been paid in full;
  • you know the case number (on the payment order or your extract);
  • you can attach proof of payment (receipt, debit advice).

Re: debt enforcement no. [number] — withdrawal request (art. 8a para. 3 let. c DEBA/SchKG)

Dear Sir or Madam,

The claim behind debt enforcement no. [number], filed with the debt enforcement office of [district], was settled in full on [payment date]. Proof of payment is enclosed.

I therefore kindly ask you to withdraw this debt enforcement at the competent office, in accordance with art. 8a para. 3 let. c DEBA/SchKG. This step is free of charge for you and is done by a simple written notice to the office.

Please confirm to me in writing within 10 days that the withdrawal has been communicated to the office.

Thank you for your diligence. Yours faithfully,

Sending tips

  • 1Send the letter by registered mail and keep the receipt: the sending date counts.
  • 2Always attach proof of payment — without it most creditors will not process the request.
  • 3No answer after 10–15 days? Follow up in writing. A refusal or continued silence is not a dead end: other routes exist (art. 85/85a DEBA, depending on the case).

Tip: send the letter in the creditor's language. The French, German and Italian versions of this page contain the same template — switch language at the top of the page.

Need a personalised, complete version?

  • personalised letters with your details, the right office and the exact fees;
  • office letter included, plus what to do if the creditor does not respond;
  • optionally we send it by registered mail for you, with tracking (+CHF 15).

Does the creditor's withdrawal cost anything?

No. The creditor notifies the withdrawal to the debt enforcement office by a simple letter, free of charge. Some creditors charge internal handling fees — they are not obliged to.

What happens after the withdrawal?

The office stops disclosing the entry to third parties (art. 8a para. 3 let. c): it no longer appears on the standard extract. Processing usually takes a few days to a few weeks.

What if the creditor refuses or does not answer?

They have no legal obligation to withdraw. Depending on your situation, other routes exist: for a debt paid during the proceeding, court annulment (art. 85 DEBA) may come into play. The free assessment identifies the route for your case.
