When will my entry disappear from the extract?
Updated on 22 July 2026
In brief
A debt enforcement entry stays visible on the Swiss register extract for 5 years after the proceeding closes (art. 8a para. 4 DEBA/SchKG). It can become invisible sooner: withdrawal by the creditor or a non-disclosure request (art. 8a para. 3). This calculator gives the exact date for your case.
Answer two questions and get the date from which your entry will no longer be disclosed to third parties — plus the legal routes to speed that up.
Does paying my debt enforcement erase it from the register?
No. Payment closes the proceeding, but the entry stays visible for 5 years after closure (art. 8a para. 4). Only a withdrawal by the creditor, a non-disclosure decision or the passage of time make it invisible.
Is the creditor obliged to withdraw the entry after payment?
No, nothing obliges them to. In practice many creditors agree upon written request: the withdrawal costs them nothing and is done by a simple letter to the debt enforcement office.
What changed on 1 January 2026?
The revision of art. 8a DEBA/SchKG, in force since 1 January 2026, extended how long closed proceedings remain disclosed to third parties: 5 years after closure, versus 1 year before. Getting an old entry withdrawn or non-disclosed has therefore become more important.
